The Divine '09

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

I think we can all agree that 2009 wasn't exactly a perfect year. The economy tanked, jobs were lost, houses foreclosed on, and stores set about begging customers to enter. Yet despite all of this, friends were married, babies were born, trips and visits were made. I'm not quite sure what made '09 whiz by as fast as it did, but this year was, without a doubt the fastest of my life. I might not choose all it doled out if given that chance but I wouldn't necessarily change it either. 2009 gave me many a night with family or friends, good health, opportunity and a lot to be grateful for. I spent nights laughing so hard I thought I might cry, I witnessed friends and family push themselves to their limit and cheered them on through the obstacles they hit. I had shoulders to lean on, new babies to meet, weddings to toast, friends to reunite and reminisce with.

I also made it to a hell of a lot of Red Sox games.

Tonight, as I watch the ball drop and sip my champagne, I won't be naive enough to think 2010 will only deliver greatness. There will be some bad just as there will be good, some ying to the yang. Still, I'm excited about this new year, this new decade. Something tells me she's got some pretty fabulous tricks up her sleeve.
