In the meantime, I'd like to just give you a quick glimpse of how I spent this most recent weekend:
For a very long time, I was the biggest Josh Ritter fan I knew. I've sort of lost track of how many times I've seen him live, but if I had to guess I'd put myself around the eight show mark. A few years ago, when a co-worker and I began bonding over a love of live music, we discovered our mutual admiration for all things Sir Ritter. It turns out she loves him just as much as I do. Once we got that out on the table? Well, the rest was history.Cat and I have seen Josh perform at least four times together. In fact, she and I were lucky enough to talk to him a year ago, which you long time readers may remember as one of the best days of my life.
A few months ago, when we discovered he was touring this Fall, we jumped at the opportunity to see him again. Except we were quick to discover that he had no planned shows in Boston. Most fans might see this as a problem, get upset for a minute or two, and then move on to other concerts. But then again, most fans are not Cat and me. We divided and conquered his schedule and decided to see him play on Friday night up in Portland, Maine and then - because once is never enough - to drive out to Western Mass to catch him again on Saturday night. So, yep. If you're keeping score, that's two shows, back to back nights, and a lot of driving in between.
Of course it was absolutely worth every amazing, giddy, enthralling second. I never doubted our intentions for a second and we would both do it again in a heartbeat. Because when you get right down to it, a girl is never too old to be a groupie.
