Gang! Somehow we are two weeks into June, and tomorrow marks a month since I left for Spain.
The time, my how it flies!
I still have so much I want to share with you about the recent Iberian adventure and I've got lots of flotsam and jetsam types of thoughts floating 'round my head too, just ripe and ready for a blog post. For now, though I just wanted to say hello. I've been keeping busy - suddenly very busy - with all sorts of projects and things I've always been meaning to get around to and ideas and just general randomness. Of course, I have my share of work deadlines to contend with these days too, which aren't always quite as fun...
But oh, what a glorious time of year we are in! For there are bright, sunny, summer days to savor followed by late sunsets - ones that keep getting later by the day. There are crisp mornings and evenings, and I'm once again - as I do every year - falling in love with the planting, the growing, the warm air, the cool nights, and this season. This is the start of days spent lingering on porches and lawns, of windows thrown open, of impromptu barbeques with friends, of waking early for farmer's markets, of baseball games, and ponytails and painted toes and sandals and easy-breezy dresses.
And the beauty of right now is that we are at the beginning of it all - when fresh fruit and vegetables replace the starchy comfort foods of winter, when friends meet up for an ice cream date, when you find yourself napping on a blanket spread on the lawn, a book left open on your chest; and it seems like the most perfect place on earth. I don't know why I still find myself surprised, but I am taken aback every year how New England and Mother Nature come together to work their charms, of how glorious these end of spring, start of summer days are, and truly just how lovely and beautiful I find this season - my very favorite.
