These Days.

The way the leaves smell once they've fallen.

Early morning light shining into my bedroom and how different it is in October than the rest of the year - cozier somehow, golden.

Thinking, wishing, willing that Spotify would play the Bruce Springsteen song you're desperate to hear, knowing with the thousands of songs to choose from it won't...but then, it does - and it's the very first song in fact.

Wine with a friend who feels like a sister, who you can't imagine ever not knowing.

Coupons from Mom in the mail, Post-It notes with her hand drawn hearts attached to them.

Hugs from my Dad, hearing him call me "Kel."

Leaving yoga class feeling better than when I arrived.

Sitting, laughing with friends, ignoring the never ending to-do list briefly.

Fixing something in my apartment, anticipating it as a forever pain-in-the-neck task then completing it in ten minutes, by myself.

A few unseasonably warm Indian Summer days mid-October providing one last chance for cotton dresses, tight and boot free legs.

Reminders that there is so much beauty everywhere, everywhere and I can still notice it despite my frantic days, my endless commitments.

So long as I'm paying attention.
